The Otsuka group was established in 1921 by Mr. Busaburo Otsuka in Naruto, Tokushima Prefecture in Japan. From the beginning the company had its sights to make its presence recognized in the global market. As part of the worldwide business expansion of Otsuka, Marsman & Co., Inc. (MCI) introduced and promoted Otsuka products in the Philippine market in 1985 under Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. and in 1996 under Metro Drug Inc.
